The Concierge Cooks?

The term “Chef Concierge” comes from the French word for “chief” and essentially their role is to oversee the Guest Services for hotels.  While they play many roles, they are not the cooks!  Typically 4 and 5 star hotels have a full service Concierge desk where they assist the guests with their various needs like making arrangements for spa, transportation, special events and most importantly child care!  I was able to chat briefly with Matthew who’s resume boasts 20 years in this elite world at many of the prestigious Fairmont hotels in Victoria, Whistler and currently Vancouver.  I asked this Chef Concierge:
Q – In your opinion, what makes a good On Call nanny for your guests?

A –  We appreciate a nanny who is timely, professional yet friendly and engaging with both children and parents.


Q – How can an On Call nanny go “above and beyond” at an On Call booking at a hotel?

A – Arrive at hotel with an idea, based on age of children, of how to engage them, perhaps bring a couple of education books or toys


Q – What would you like our nannies to know about working at your hotel?

A–  It is very simple…turning moments into memories for our guests!
