Summer time is here, kids are out of school, ready to play and of course SNACK! Snacks are a big part of any child’s life, so they should be something that will fuel their fun! Here are some easy, healthy snacks for the kiddos to enjoy this Summer season!
This one may be a no brainer, cheese is an awesome source of protein and kids love it! Keeping cheese strings on hand means always having a summer snack. Another way to get their cheese on is cottage cheese and fruits! My 4 year old loves a small serving of cottage cheese, topped with some sliced berries, and a dash of agave syrup for sweetness.
While peanut butter is something we have to be careful with today, there are other nut butters that make great snacks for the wee ones. A personal favorite is almond butter, it tastes delicious. Obviously a spoon full of nut butter is a bit much, so try topping your favorite fruits with them! Or for a healthy ice cream topping melt the almond butter and drizzle it over the ice cream. Much better option than the sugar loaded toppings that come in the ice cream aisle!
Shake it UP.
Milkshakes are yummy, but are loaded with sugar and way too much of it! Enter almond milk. Chocolate almond milk, that is. Blend some with your go to nut butter and a cup of greek yogurt and your littles will think they just scored a frosty! For some added fun, top with a few chocolate sprinkles. You can find real chocolate sprinkles at most stores, and they taste loads better than their not so coco counterparts.
This one may be a bit of a stretch to call healthy, as it uses Nutella. But moderation is key with this! You can make brownies, good ones too, with three ingredients!
Blend a 1 ¼ cup of Nutella, 2 bananas, and ½ cup of flour (if you would like to avoid this, you can use coconut flour!)
Using coconut oil, grease a 9X9 pan, and bake for 15 minutes at 350*. The KEY with these is to let them cool completely. Once they are you have some yummy brownies that have the added bonus of fruit!
Hope you enjoy!
