When you are little it is all about the pictures and a simple tale. When kids are older it makes it challenging to compete with technology so books have to be pretty great to pull them away from whatever screen is in front of their nose. Here are some suggestions to borrow from the library or pick up at your local book store for the youngsters in your life.
For little kids – Cat Comes Too and Dog Comes Too by Hazel Hutchins has great illustrations where these adorable creatures get into a bit of silliness. Little do they know they are honing in on their early reading skills!
“I can read myself” kids – When I Was Eight by Christy Jordan-Fenton & Margaret Pokuaj-Fenton tells the true tale of a remarkable girl who reminds us of the power we hold when we can read. Both the story and the illustrations are beautiful!
Big kids – The Path of Names by Ari Goelman is filled with mazes, mysteries and magic in this clever summer-camp fantasy.
