Once summer rolls around in the Okanagan and Kelowna areas, a steady flow of travelers flock in from all over Canada – and some come from around the world – to either participate or spectate at the annual races. Athletes and sports fans of all ages will get a chance to enjoy several races in the Okanagan and Kelowna areas in 2012.
Road Race Series in Kelowna and Starting Block X-Country Race Series
The Road Race Series in Kelowna has already started this year, but we’re still looking forward to the Midsummer 8K in Kelowna on July 15, 2012 and the Peak to Beak 18K in Kelowna on September 9th. Also in store is the X-Country Race Series, which includes races in September and October 2012. Race dates are listed for September 15, September 30, October 14, October 21 and October 28. The Interior Running Association has posted the schedule for the 2012 year here, if you are interested in participating in or watching any of these exciting and highly talked about races.
Ironman Canada 2012
This year, the Okanagan is excited to be hosting the 2012 Subaru Ironman Canada in August! The thrilling Triathlon events will be held in beautiful Okanagan Park August 23 to the 28th, and will include a swim course, bike course and run course. Because rain is usually slight during the month of August in the Okanagan and morning winds are deemed as generally low, we expect the lake to be calm and the day to bring great weather for the athletes and spectators!
If you are planning to come to the Okanagan to watch the races this year, or you live locally in the Okanagan or Kelowna area, and you have yet to figure out what to do with the children, don’t worry; Nannies on Call has you covered! We have carefully selected nannies who will plan to come to your home if you live locally (or your hotel if you are visiting the area).
