What: Money Mart Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay- Summer Camps for children with disabilities.
Who: Nannies, Clients, Friends and Family. Anyone interested in joining our team. All ages welcome!
When: June 18, 2011- June 19, 2011 Time: 10AM Saturday to 10AM Sunday
Where: Swanguard Stadium, Burnaby
Cost: There is no cost to you as we will be fundraising to raise money for Easter Seals Camps. We do ask that you fundraise as any bit helps. Donations are always welcome through the Easter Seals Website.

Why: The Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay for the kids is a major fundraiser of the BC Lions Society For Children with Disabilities. The Relay is an annual community based fundraising event that challenges teams of runners to run relay style for 24 hours in support of Easter Seals Camps throughout BC. Nannies on Call would like to join and support this cause as it gives the opportunity for children to take part in a week-long camping experience. These camps help children build confidence and independence while spending time with other children with similar disabilities. It costs $2400 to send one child to camp. It’s our goal to send as many kids as we can. “Cause seeing the smiles makes it worth the miles”

How: How it works is teams of any number of individuals fundraise in the months leading up to the event and then run relay style from 10 am Saturday until 10 am Sunday on Relay weekend. But there is a lot more going on than just running for 24 hours. On Saturday throughout the day there is live entertainment, children’s activities and performers, a volleyball and bocce tournament, a beer garden, food vendors and more. Through the night and wee hours of the morning there are even more entertainers and other activities to partake in such as a late night poker tournament, movies, and camping. Teams can set up a group campsite in Burnaby’s Central Park as a team base and celebrate with other teams that raised money to support the same cause – helping children with disabilities. Teams can be of any size but there must be one participant on the track at all times throughout the relay. We are looking for a team of 24- that is one hour per group member. You can walk or run. You are also not required to stay the entire 24 hours but it would be fun. You are only required to show up for your time slot.

RSVP: Please RSVP by June 1, 2011 so we can arrange a running schedule. Contact Stephanie Reitsma, Relay Coordinator at [email protected]
