Nannies on Call has been at the corner of Beatty and Robson for many years. We love the location. There are many great resturants within walking distance (Japa Dog anyone?) and I’m sure I don’t need to mention all the shopping all along Robson. It is a great place to work.
We are lucky enough to have opening windows in our offices that face Beatty Street. It is so nice in the summer to open the window and get some fresh air instead of breathing the recycled air conditioning air all day. Of course there are drawbacks to having your window open in downtown Vancouver. Sirens, traffic and the Big Bus Hop on Hop off tour are constant noise distractions. Everyone in the Nannies on Call office could recite the Terry Fox Memorial commentary given on the Hop on Hop off bus as it passes our office (and the Terry Fox Memorial at the corner of Beatty and Robson)
We have been talking about hopping on the Big Bus since we moved in. There is a stop right across the street at the Georgian Court. Thanks to Groupon Vancouver we did just that. When the coupon came out we jumped on the chance for a corporate adventure. We got enough tickets for everyone and hopped on the bus on Thursday.
Not only was it nice to get out of the office into the sunshine but the Big Bus tour was lots of fun. Although we did not hop off anywhere (we did need to get some work done) we enjoyed the tour of the city and the running commentary. We all learn some new facts. I had never heard of Whisky Jack, Robsonstrasse or the rivers under the city.
Thank you to Groupon Vancouver and Big Bus Vancouver for a great break from our regular work day. Everyone needs to get out of the office and do something different once and awhile.
